Donation Frequently Asked Questions

How can I donate online without charging Summit for the donation?

When donating online, you have the option to ‘cover the fee’ by checking the box at the bottom of the page to ‘add $X to cover the processing fee’.

The processing fee is $0.25 when donating by bank account and much higher when donating by credit card.

I see I can donate online by bank account or credit card. What is the difference?

Donating by bank account: A donation by bank account is the most cost-effective way to give online. There is a set $0.25 processing fee for the donation no matter the amount.

Donating by credit card: Credit card processors charge a percentage fee plus a fixed fee for transactions (usually 3% + $0.30). This fee is either covered by the donor (if you choose to check the box at the bottom of the page) or it is paid for by Summit.

As an example, if you are donating $1,000 below is what the donation would look like if you were to cover the processing fees.

By Bank Draft
(donor covering fees)

$1,000 donation
+ $0.25 fee
= $1,000.25 total

By Credit Card
(donor covering fees)

$1,000 donation
+$22.28 fee
= $1,022.28 total

I need to verify my bank account before setting up a bank transfer. Do you have more information?

Yes we do! Planning Center is the system Summit uses for our donations. Below is a link to a section on verifying your bank account. In it is a snippet on manual verification and micro-deposits.

Do you have any more in-depth information on how to manage my donation account, etc?
